Reflect

Notice how the gospel reshapes your closest relationships from the inside out. Every command here is anchored to the Lord, so that submission, love, obedience, and gentleness are not just social rules but ways of living out your union with Christ in the ordinary rhythms of home. The one who ordered the whole cosmos now orders your marriage, your parenting, your daily obedience, and He does so with your flourishing in mind.

It is striking that God cares whether a child grows discouraged and whether a spouse turns bitter; the small wounds of home are not beneath His notice. Wherever you hold authority, He calls you to wield it with tenderness rather than to press your advantage, and wherever you owe honor, He invites you to give it as service to Christ Himself. Where in your household might harshness be quietly crushing someone's spirit, and what would it look like to let Christ's love soften you there?
